‘Pathetique’ actually means ‘full of feeling’ and Tchaikovsky poured everything he had into one final overwhelming symphony. It’s full of raw feeling and great melodies. Rosanne Philippens, visiting our concerts for the first time, plays Mendelssohn’s ever popular Violin Concerto which will make a truly poignant contrast.
